We finally have an itinerary!

So...I'm going to India over Christmas! I've known about it for a while, but up until now, the trip has been kinda shrouded in mystery (i.e. we had no clue what exactly we were doing over there). However, we had class on Sunday and finally got an itinerary! Here's a run-down of what we'll be doing while we're there:
  • 12/26 - 12/27: Travel from XNA to Delhi
  • 12/28: "Recovery day"
  • 12/29: Agra
  • 12/30: Jaipur
  • 12/31: Travel to Bangalore & Kabini
    • We're spending New Year's Eve at an elephant sanctuary!
  • 1/1: Kabini River Lodges
    • We start out the new year with a river safari followed by a traditional Indian brunch
  • 1/2: Travel to Bangalore
  • 1/3 - 1/6: Bangalore
    • 3: Chikpet market: a wholesale "flea" market
    • 4: Village & NGO visit: we'll be touring a small Indian village and meeting with the locals
    • 5: Sumangali Ashram: we spend the day at a home for girls (aged infant to 12)
    • 6: Family Visits: each group will spend the day with a family to get a feel for what day-to-day life is like in Indai
  • 1/7: Travel to Delhi & Corbett National Park
  • 1/8 - 1/9: Corbett National Park
    • Tiger sanctuary! We're going on ANOTHER safari!
  • 1/10 - 1/16: Delhi

Then we'll come home...sounds pretty awesome, huh? So far, we've had three classes (to prepare us for the new culture, etc), and as part of those classes, we've watched some really interesting Bollywood movies. My next few posts will be brief reviews/recommendations of what we've seen, as well as any interesting info I find before we go. Just about two months to go...I get my typhoid shot on Wednesday...yay...

Enjoy your trip to India. I did this trip two years ago while getting my MBA at Walton. It was awesome and lots of fun, the visit to the Sumangali Seva Ashram was so much fun and one of the best parts of the trip. Kabini is beautiful and the Taj is truly amazing (no pictures truly capture it!) I discovered your blog thru RiffRaff's post... congrats on winning!
